What kids will learn
Techniques that work under pressure. Exactly the same ones I've used to win internationally in jiu-jitsu, judo and wrestling, in gi and no-gi: three Pan American jiu-jitsu championships for kids, the Ontario Open, the biggest competition in Canada, and national championships of El Salvador. No empty theory: what works on the mats when real pressure is on.
Jayden is a kids and teens competition coach, and has coached several kids in Canada, from recreational players to IBJJF medalists.
This is supplemental training. Your kid keeps their team, their coach, and their patches.

Class format
Positionals & specific techniques
The class is built around real positional work, in gi and no-gi: entering, escaping, dominating, and attacking from every position. We work specific jiu-jitsu, judo and wrestling techniques each session, repeated until the movement becomes automatic under pressure.
Techniques that work under pressure
Every technique I teach has been tested on the mats, in gi and no-gi, across jiu-jitsu, judo and wrestling, including three IBJJF Pan American Kids championships, the Ontario Open, and national championships of El Salvador. No theory that doesn't work.
Roles & feedback throughout the class
Inside rounds and positional drills, in gi and no-gi, we rotate roles: attack, defend, score. You get corrections while you fight, not only at the end. Feedback runs through the whole class.

Questions parents ask
What techniques are taught in the classes?+
Techniques that have worked for me in jiu-jitsu, judo and wrestling competition, in gi and no-gi, and have helped me win internationally: three times at the IBJJF Pan American Kids championship, the Ontario Open, the biggest competition in Canada, and national championships of El Salvador. Positions, escapes, attacks, scoring and game planning adapted to each age and level.
Who can join these classes?+
Intermediate and advanced kids and teens already training jiu-jitsu who want to improve. Groups are split by age and level. Open to any school, academy, or team, not just Arte Suave.
Where are the classes?+
At Arte Suave, El Salvador. Parents are welcome to watch.
What if my kid doesn't speak Spanish?+
No problem. Classes are adapted to the student's language: Jayden can explain in Spanish, English, or French. Many kids also learn by watching the technique and drilling, regardless of language.
How much does it cost?+
Price per class depends on the bundle. Full breakdown in the form.
When do classes start and how long will they run?+
Classes start the last week of August. This is a new session we are trying at Arte Suave and runs through September and October. Weekday classes are 1 hour with a maximum of 10 students; the Sunday class is 2 PM to 4 PM.
How are the groups organized?+
Kids are split by age, level, and weight to ensure high-quality, safe training for everyone.
What should students bring?+
Depending on the class format, students bring either a gi or no-gi gear. This will be announced in advance. Also bring a water bottle, mouthguard if they use one, and sandals.
Will this cause a problem with my kid's current academy?+
No. This is supplemental training. Your kid keeps their team, their coach, and their patches. We are not asking them to switch academies; it's an extra opportunity to improve.
Who is Jayden?+
Jayden Portillo is a kids and teens competition coach, and a jiu-jitsu, judo, and wrestling competitor. He has coached several kids in Canada, from recreational players to IBJJF medalists. He is a 3-time IBJJF Pan Kids champion, won the 2026 Ontario Open, and was national champion of El Salvador in judo and wrestling.
How and when do I pay?+
Once you confirm your package, we'll send you the details to make a bank transfer directly to Miguel, the owner of Arte Suave. You do not pay through the form; it is only used to organize the group and confirm the schedule.
